In the Redmond giant’s latest round of patches, usually released on the second Tuesday of each month in what is known as Patch Tuesday, Microsoft has fixed problems in software including Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerabilities, privilege escalation security flaws, spoofing bugs, and denial-of-service issues. Products impacted by Microsoft’s December security update include Microsoft Office, Microsoft PowerShell, the Chromium-based Edge browser, the Windows Kernel, Print Spooler, and Remote Desktop Client....

The undersea Internet cable runs across the Atlantic ocean and connecting Virginia and Spain, landing in Virgina Beach and Bilbao. The cable is lying more than 17,000 feet below the oceans’ surface. According to Microsoft, the company claimed that it took them less than two years to lay a 4,000 miles (6,600 kilometers) long and almost 10.25 million pounds subsea fiber optic cable. As per the reports from Microsoft, Marea can transmit up to 160 terabits of data per second which is 16 million times faster when compared to the average home internet connection....

Microsoft and Dropbox announced a new partnership between the two companies today and a commitment to bring integration between Dropbox and Office apps on iOS and Android. Currently Office users rely on local storage for saving files or Microsoft’s own OneDrive service for saving and syncing files, but the newly announced partnership will allow Office users to use the popular Dropbox service as an additional storage and syncing option and introduce new features between the productivity apps and syncing service....

Yann LeCun, chief AI scientist of Meta Properties, owner of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is likely to tick off a lot of people in his field. With the posting in June of a think piece on the Open Review server, LeCun offered a broad overview of an approach he thinks holds promise for achieving human-level intelligence in machines. Implied if not articulated in the paper is the contention that most of today’s big projects in AI will never be able to reach that human-level goal....

The first Call Of Duty League Hype Battle is coming this weekend, and none other than Michael B. Jordan is set to headline it. The award-winning star of Black Panther and the Creed series recently announced his involvement with the event, right on the heels of entering the world of eSports last month. In celebration of the popular first-person shooter franchise’s success and influence in pop culture all around the world, the Call Of Duty League is beginning a new event at eSports competitions called the Call Of Duty League Hype Battle....

Paramount’s Micronauts picks up Dean DeBlois, of How To Train Your Dragon fame, as writer and director. The live-action Micronauts film has been in the works for years, and at one point they were intended to become part of a Hasbro live-action universe, alongside Transformers and GI Joe. Like most Hasbro properties, the Micronauts started out as a toy line. In this case, they were 3.75-inch tall action figures that were known for an unusually high number of points of articulation....

Microsoft has had to pay for over 1.5 million subscriptions to Ninja’s Mixer stream thanks to a promotion the company began offering as part of a move to generate viewership on the streaming platform. Tyler “Ninja” Blevins announced his decision to leave Twitch, the streaming platform that hosted his rise to fame as a Fortnite player, for Mixer earlier this month, signing an exclusivity deal that is reportedly worth upwards of $10-50 million....

Microsoft’s Edge web browser takes another step away from Internet Explorer with its new logo. Microsoft’s latest browser will be releasing on January 15th, with its logo that will put it more in line with the direction of the Microsoft Office suite of programs. With its new logo, Microsoft aims to make Edge more desirable with a suite of additional new features aimed at corporations. For instance, the update will allow people to use the address bar to do things like define company acronyms and search for floor plans and will be usable on systems running macOS, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10....

Meizu M3E, however, isn’t the first phone from the Chinese maker which comes with Yun OS out of the box. In fact, it was the Meizu MX4 that first came out with the brand new OS on top. As expected the Yun OS, also referred to as Aliyun OS comes with its own Cloud services and an App store, which allegedly contains a number of pirated Playstore applications. Coming to the specs, the Meizu M3E sports an all-metal unibody design reminiscent of the company’s recent generation of smartphones including the likes of Meizu MX6, Pro 6 etc....

Meta said it will now “remove Pages, Groups and accounts representing military-controlled businesses.” The company made a similar statement earlier this year when the military staged a coup and removed democratically-elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi. “This builds on our existing ban on these entities advertising on Facebook, which was announced in February, and the various enforcement actions we’ve taken since then which are outlined below,” said Rafael Frankel, director of policy for Meta in APAC-Emerging Countries, referencing this Meta newsroom post....

Ever since the advent of filmmaking, filmmakers have tried to come up with new and unique ways to distinguish their work from the rest of the pack. A lot of interesting techniques have developed as a result of this desire to constantly be on the cutting edge, but one of the most unusual and least used filmmaking trick has got to be the fourth wall break. For those who don’t know, breaking the fourth wall essentially breaks the suspension of disbelief that the events of the film are taking place in some fictional world by having the characters in said film directly address the audience....

Microsoft has made good on its promise to roll out full iPadOS trackpad support to its Office apps for iPad. Microsoft said support for iPadOS trackpad features would arrive this fall, and it announced today that the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for iPad are now being updated to fulfill that promise. With full support for the iPadOS cursor, Microsoft says Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are all now ready for Apple’s Magic Keyboard accessory, as well as any other trackpad you connect to your iPad....

Microsoft also is introducing a few personal expression tools that are meant to be part of the Viva community experience: Storyline, Stories and Video Clip. Storyline and Stories build on top of OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Stream video service. Storylines are meant to create posts with links, files, photos and videos and will be available to users in Viva Connections, Outlook, Teams and Yammer. The feeds of these posts will be available via a new Storylines tab....

Once again, the ‘pique’ between Microsoft and Google continues to demonstrate that its relevant browsers are better than those of the competition, and this time it is time to teach the good features that will demonstrate the new browser Edge Creators Update Of Windows 10. It is difficult to measure the battery life of a computer because even under identical devices there are thousands of factors that are not available to a user to elucidate why the battery of a PC lasts more to one person than another....

Somehow, though, we just never find the time. Ambitions drive us. Work overwhelms us. And time messes with our minds. How, then, have we changed during the two years of the pandemic? Have we stopped to consider a little? Or has the painful awkwardness – for some – of working from home caused us to work more and smell far fewer roses? Helpfully, Microsoft has been intensely researching what’s happening to our heads and souls....
